But do you remember what Mortlake was like before the last changes in the 1960s and 70s? Did you shop on the High Street, remember Wainright and Waring perhaps, go to Mortlake Green School or did you work in the brewery when it was owned by Watneys?
If you live in or know Mortlake, then you may be interested in coming to our Reminiscence Group.
Several local people have been coming along for many years but it is always nice to see new faces. Over a cup of tea and biscuits, the group exchanges memories of the local area. It also has links with the Barnes and Mortlake History Society, who bring along archive photographs, old maps, newspaper cuttings, original historic documents and artefacts. In January we shall be having a quiz about Mortlake.
The Reminiscence Group is a very friendly and relaxed group of people. If you come along you may make new friends, or you may even meet someone from your school days that you have not seen for years!
There is no charge, no official membership and no obligation to attend every month – just come along when it suits you and enjoy the afternoon.
